The SEIKO Quartz Cal. S034 is a digital stopwatch that features a stopwatch and
alarm functions. For everyday use, time/calendar function is also provided.
In addition, the stopwatch is equipped with an electroluminescent panel which
evenly illuminates the display for easy viewing in the dark.
●STOPWATCH
・It measures up to 10 hours in 1/100 second increments.
Two separate stopwatch displays are available for lap time and split time
measurement, and they can be selected whenever necessary.
・The first 30 sets of lap times and split times are automatically stored in memory,
and they can be recalled either during or after the measurement.
●ALARM
・The alarm can be set to ring at a designated time on a 24-hour basis.
・The alarm can be engaged and disengaged alternately with a press of a button.
●TIME/CALENDAR DISPLAY
・Month, date, day, hour, minutes and seconds are displayed.
・The calendar automatically adjusts for odd and even months including February
of leap years from 1995 to 2044.
●ILLUMINATING LIGHT (ELECTROLUMINESCENT PANEL)
・A certain material emits light by applying voltage. This phenomenon is called
“electroluminescence”, and the stopwatch illuminates the display using it.
・With a press of the button in any mode, the display is illuminated for 3 seconds.
It remains illuminated if the button is kept pressed. (If the alarm starts ringing
while the illuminating light is turned on, the light will be turned off automatically.)
*Please note that the electroluminescent material deteriorates with time, losing its
luminance gradually. For details, see REPLACEMENT OF THE
ELECTROLUMINESCENT PANEL (FOR ILLUMINATING LIGHT)〉

BATTERY CHANGE
When replacing the battery, be sure to take
your stopwatch to the retailer from whom
your watch was purchased or an
AUTHORIZED SEIKO DEALER, and specify
the “SEIKO genuine SB battery”.
If an old battery is kept inside the stopwatch
for a long time, electrolyte leakage may
occur and a malfunction may be caused. Be
sure to replace the battery as soon as it runs
down to prevent any possible malfunction.
Don't take a battery out of your
stopwatch. When a battery is taken out of a
stopwatch, it must be kept at a place beyond
the reach of an infant. In case it is swallowed
by an infant, consult a doctor immediately.
BATTERY LIFE
A new normal battery will last
approximately three years.
If the alarm is used for more than
20 seconds a day, the confirmation
sound more than 50 times a day
and / or the illuminating light more
than 3 times a day (3 seconds for
each time ), the battery life may be
less than the specified period.
The battery in your stopwatch may
run down in less than the specified
period after the date of purchase,
as it is a monitor battery inserted at
the factory to check the functions
and performance of the stopwatch.
The battery in your stopwatch will
therefore be replaced with a new
one only at cost even if it runs
down within the guarantee period.
BATTERY LIFE INDICATOR
When all the digits start flashing,
the stopwatch may stop operating
within two or three days. We
suggest that you have the battery
replaced by a SEIKO DEALER.
Even though the display is flashing,
time accuracy is not affected.
WATER RESISTANT
Designed and manufactured to
withstand accidental contact
with water such as splashes and
rain.
ANTI-SHOCK
Your stopwatch can be worn
while participating in most
sports.
But be careful not to drop or hit
the stopwatch against hard
objects or otherwise subject the
stopwatch to violent shocks.
TEMPERATURE
Your stopwatch is designed to work with stable accuracy
between normal temperature range of 5℃ and 35℃.
Do not leave your stopwatch
in direct sunlight or very high
temperatures for a long time.
The display may become
black, but this condition
will be corrected when the
stopwatch returns to
normal temperature.
Do not leave the stopwatch
in very low temperature, as
this may cause:
1) A slight time loss or gain.
2) The change of digits to
become slow (with accuracy
remaining normal.)
*The illuminating light may
temporarily become dim.
In all cases, the above conditions will be corrected when the
stopwatch returns to normal temperature.
Be careful not to leave your stopwatch in a temperature below
−10℃ or over +60℃ for a long time, as this may cause the
battery electrolyte leakage or shorten the battery life.
CHEMICALS
When plastic materials
are used for the
stopwatch cause: Be
careful not to expose
the watch to solvents
(such as alcohol and
gasoline), cosmetic
spray, detergent,
adhesives or paints, as
case, bracelet, etc. will
discover, deteriorate or
deform through the
chemical action.
The IC (Integrated
Circuit) used in your
stopwatch will be
affected by static
electricity, which may
disturb the display. Keep
your stopwatch with
such objects as TV
screens which emit
strong static electricity.
After about 7 years of use
digital display panel will
decrease in contrast,
becoming difficult to read.
Have the panel replaced with a
new one by the retailer from
whom your stopwatch was
purchased or an AUTHORIZED
SEIKO DEALER.
CHECK
We suggest that you have your
stopwatch checked by the retailer
from whom the stopwatch was
purchased every 2 or 3 years or
when the battery is replaced, for oil
condition, battery electrolyte leakage
or damage due to water or sweat.
After checking the stopwatch,
adjusted or repaired may be
required.
Be sure to have the gasket replaced
with new ones by the retailer from whom
the stopwatch was purchased after the
stopwatch is adjusted or repaired.
*Specify “SEIKO GENUINE PARTS”
when replacing the parts.

The electroluminescent panel for illumination of the display loses its
luminance as the battery voltage gets lowered.
Also, its luminance level decreases gradually with time.
For example, the luminance level decreases by half after the total
time of use of about 500 hours.
When the illuminating light becomes dim, replace the battery with a
new one,
If the illuminating light remains dim after the battery is replaced, have
the electroluminescent panel replaced with a new one by the retailer
